Position Description

We are looking to hire a skilled Desktop Support Engineer to assist our client with computer hardware and software issues. You will be required to work on-site in San Antonio, TX or El Paso, TX and assist with hardware installations, software upgrades, systems integrations, and basic IT-related issues.

 

To ensure success as a Desktop Support Engineer, you should have extensive knowledge of home and office systems, good problem-solving skills, and high-level interpersonal skills. A top-class Desktop Support Technician provides fast and effective support for clients experiencing basic hardware and software issues.

 

For this position your shifts will be Sun-Wed or Thurs-Sat, and you must be able to accommodate either a day (6 am-6 pm) or night (6 pm-6 am) schedule.

 

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Daily work instructions will be provided by onsite Client staff

  • Work with existing ticketing system if available

  • Troubleshoot issues with Windows 10

  • Troubleshoot various applications

  • Network troubleshooting and problem remediation for end user connectivity

  • Port Patching as required

  • Printer software and/or hardware troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot laptop/desktop hardware

  • Rack and Stack networking equipment as needed

  • New equipment setup as required for end users

  • Completing job reports and time reports as required

Must Have Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years proven work experience as a Desktop Support Engineer or Support Technician
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals
  • Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and some networking, in particular Windows 10, Dell laptops and Ubiquity
  • Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues
  • Some cabling experience required
  • Ability to work shifts

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Previous experience supporting IP phone systems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) an asset
