Position: Information Technology (IT) Consultant

Locations: 512-260 Hearst Way, Ottawa, Ontario K2L 3H1

Additional Locations: Toronto, ON

Salary: $54.46 / hour
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time ( 37.5 hours / week)

The Senior Consultant ITSM must have a wide range of knowledge with the installation, configuration, customization, implementation and maintenance of the BMC ITSM Suite of applications in order to customize solutions for our clients. Additionally, experience with monitoring tools like Control-M or Truesight is required. Emtec is placing an emphasis on quality soft skills, particularly around presales and generating a sense of confidence with new or existing clients. 


Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Confer with clients to identify and document requirements

  • Design, develop and implement information systems business solutions which may include:

    • Leading and/or participating in small teams comprised of Emtec and customer resources at client sites to deliver required outcomes and produce additional business with BMC clients

    • Implementing, customizing, and configuring BMC products and third-party applications as part of a comprehensive solution
    • Working with knowledge of other IT network management technologies and having an operational knowledge of IT data center functions
    • Possessing and demonstrating an understanding of enterprise scale integrated applications from a process/business perspective
  • Provide advice on information systems strategy, policy, management and service delivery

  • Assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures throughout the software development life cycle

  • Conduct reviews to assess quality assurance practices, software products and information systems

  • Lead a project team if necessary

  • Ability to take direction and work independently in achieving stated objectives

Must Have Skills:

 

  • University degree or College diploma
  • 5+ years of experience working with BMC Remedy AR System, ITSM and Atrium Orchestrator Suite
  • Proven skills integrating products with the AR System suite
  • Solid understanding of the Service Management market
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Discovery (ADDM) and either of the following tools: Truesight or Control-M
  • Understanding of BMC's technology including but not limited to: 
    • BMC Remedy ITSM applications, administration, and development
    • BMC Remedy AR System Server administration, development, and tuning
    • Integrating multiple BMC products together in an enterprise architecture 

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • 2+ years of experience with BMC Analytics
  • ITIL v3 or ITIL mastery highly desirable
  • 3+ years CMDB Reconciliation and integrations of products into the CMDB

 
Professional Skills:

 

  • Strong ability to manage client relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and insight with the ability to dissolve crisis situations with clients
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills 
    • Comfortable in front of a technical or managerial audience
    • Ability to lead a workshop or small-scale training course
  • Excellent written communication ability 
    • Creation of quality presentations, white papers, etc.
    • Writing the technical grids for proposal responses
  • Strong analytical and overall technical skills
