Position Description

Emtec is looking for a Network Engineer to fulfill the needs for one of our banking clients. This position will be a 3-6 month opportunity with possible extensions (based on performance) as well as a possible fulltime opportunity after 6 months.


Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 


  • At the direction of Bank, responsible for the day to day administration and availability of systems, network, virtual platforms, and applications
  • Support existing Windows and Active Directory software environment, various applications and x86 HPE servers. At the direction of the Bank, support hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.in accordance with the project needs
  • Responsible for wide variety of systems and environments for (Network, Storage, Hardware, Load Balancers, Citrix Xen, UNIX, Windows) managing, monitoring performance and usage
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
  • Partner with IT department to ensure Production Environment and other systems are available and performing
  • At the direction of the Bank apply OS patches and upgrades in agreement with the users and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Provide support per request from internal users. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Responsible for Managing Asset inventory
  • Support for internal IT team project requirement  

Must Have Skills: 


  • 8+ years of networking experience that includes:
    • LAN, WAN design, network routing protocols, network device configuration and network security
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PP and MS Word
    • Knowledge of Windows AD, Server 2012, 2008, 2003
    • Knowledge of Infrastructure operations in a medium-large organization
    • Knowledge of network engineering, security concepts, practices and standards

Preferred Skills:


  • 5+ years’ experience supporting networks for Financial Institutions

  • Ability to follow very detailed documented work procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as well in a team environment
